The goal of our project is to develop and sell a new kind of innovative industrial plant, based on a chemical process called catalytic conversion, which will be able to process and convert almost 100% of a payload made of ASR (Automotive Shredder Residue or car fluff) and ELT (End of Life Tyres) rubber into fuel products, without the emission of any pollution, therefore making more efficient and green the entire automotive sector.
Tests using as feed-stock ASR were already performed with very good results, therefore a complete set of tests was performed to determine the conversion yield and efficiency of the catalytic conversion process using as feed-stock End of Life Tyres. The results were very promising: the conversion can produce a liquid fuel containing also aromatic hydrocarbons (which are fundamental in the plastic production), a gaseous fuel containing hydrocarbons and a carbonaceous residue which burns with exothermal effect.
The main European regulations overseeing the management of waste coming from ELV (End of Life Vehicles) were identified and summarized.
Various communication initiatives have been carried out with potential users of the plant and citizens to explain how our plant works and the advantages it can bring, it terms of economics, absence of pollution and production of marketable fuels. Important Italian newspapers have published articles about our initiative.
An agreement was signed with a company (SARES GREEN) for the sale of the plants in Europe.
All possible risks that can compromise the project have been identified, with the probability they have to happen. Proper risk-mitigation activities have been decided and described.
The economic profit an end-user can derive from the use of the plant was estimated; the required investments, the financial needs and the forecasted turnover, which is promising, were calculated.
The activities carried out so far have demonstrated the validity of the technology our plant rely on and the solidity of the Business Plan; besides it was recognized a wide interest from the end-users and the municipalities, and the absence of high risks that can compromise the project. These results encourage us to continue the project.
Having demonstrated the validity of our idea, if we will reach our goal to produce and sell about 8 plants in 5 years, we will recycle 240.000 tons/y of car fluff and used tires rubber, increasing the percentage of recyclability of cars from the current 75% to 78% in Europe.
