Summary

eHealth Hub is an EU-funded initiative that is cross-border and exclusively focused on the digital health vertical. It provides long-term support to the ecosystem stakeholders and addresses key challenges facing European SMEs in this space: fine-tuning a business model, securing investments, engaging the demand-side and accelerating commercialization, getting legal and regulatory guidance to develop solutions in compliance with a multi-layer complex framework.
Based on an initial research phase lead during the proposal preparation and based on the industry knowledge of the Consortium partners, the eHealth Hub uses a demand-driven approach to promote new business and collaboration opportunities for SMEs and key ecosystem stakeholders including healthcare provider organizations, investors, insurers, pharma and medtech groups.
The eHealth Hub project provides the following 7 services:
1. Business Model Training. Business model optimization
2. Solution Match. coneting demand side and vendors
3. Investment Readiness Academy. how to pitch in from of investors
4. eHealth Hub Platform. An online mapping of digital health
5. eHealth Roadshow. commercial traction interaction.
6. Legal Guidance. A network of legal advisers.
7. Regulatory Guidance. A network of regulatory and reimbursement experts

Work performed

First step is to support the ambition of the eHealth Hub (eHH) project on delivering seven high-quality services with highest impact and traction for European eHealth SMEs, by validating the original proposal and ensuring ongoing follow-up of the activities, of the beneficiaries, and of the internal processes.
As for deployment of services : 22 events have been organisd conting with the involvement of 261 SMEs.
1.- Business Modelling training aims to deliver the business modelling training service and optimize it over time. 3 services have been implemented: Bucharest on 15-16 June 2017; Athens on 19 October 2017 and Madrid – 12-14 March 2018
2.- Solution Match looks at needs that are still “unmet” or not well covered by the market. $ services have been deployed: Hospital Bernal (Murcia-Spain) is looking for a digital health solution to remotely monitor low complexity chronic patients from their homes 3rd April 2017, AXA is specifically interested in a smoking cessation solution and also a nutrition solution on 28th June 2017 and LEO Innovation Lab roadmap looking for large databases of clinically validate* images of skin conditions on March 2018
3.-Investment Readiness aims at training eHealth SMEs and start-ups on how to present a business value proposition to investors. 2 services have been offered: Investment Readiness training + pitch event Health 2.0 on 3 May 2017 and Investment Readiness training + pitch event Health Pioneers on 25 October 2017
4.- eHealth Investment Platform facilitates the efficient matchmaking between eHealth SMEs and other actors in the ecosystem such as investors, regulatory and legal experts, business supporters, big corporations (pharma/medtech companies) and healthcare organisations.
5.- eHealth Roadshow offers an opportunity for selected eHealth SMEs to benefit from targeted networking with demand side stakeholders from across Europe. 4 services have been implemented: WHOIT Barcelona 22 November 2016, Paris 14 March 2017, MedTech Stuttgart 6 April 2017 and WHINN Denmark 11th October 2017.
6- Legal Services aim to provide eHealth SMEs and start-ups with support on their legal issues, to build the eHealth Hub Legal Network by recruiting the 60 nodes and to facilitate the access to affordable legal advice for eHealth SMEs. 71 legal nodes have registered The number of clients who received legal advice from qLegal in the framework of the eHealth Hub project is 14 eHealth SMEs and 5 legal workshops have been organised all over Europe
7.- Regulatory services supportrelated regulatory issues and is building the eHealth Hub Regulatory Network by recruiting the 60 nodes (at least 1 per member state). 48 companies become part of the network, 15 SMEs have been supported and 2 workshops and 2 webinnars have been organised.
The eHH Communication and Dissemination Plan was implemented and all partners were actively involved according to the internal processes. To date a total of 33 Communication campaign have been performed. A logo, a very original flyer, and several roll-ups have been designed according to this visual corporate identity as well as a project presentation and a deliverable template to be used in external and internal communication activities . A database of users (1148 contacts) has been created to give us the possibility to reach them with our service offers. The users are spontaneously registering from the webpage.
For WP4 : Sustainability and exploitation, the main objective of the sustainability plan is to gather, from lessons learned to date, sustainability options for each service and to propose a method to validate sustainability hypotheses. For each service, service leader has identified the main target customers and beneficiaries from the key stakeholder types: SMEs, healthcare organizations, investors or organizations promoting entrepreneurship.

Final results

eHealth Hub is supporting the development of 261 ICT solutions promising to improve Health, transforming how patients manage their diseased and reducing the cost of health and care service delivery. These innovative eHealth solutions would give patients more control over their health and wellbeing, empower carers and reduce the administrative burden for healthcare professionals. eHealth Hub is trainig and supporting European start-ups and SMEs to adapt and optimize their business models for the eHealth market. As a result, 77 European companies have developed an scalable business model and have improved commercial traction and grow competitively.
The consortium will support demand-side stakeholders in their co-operation with eHealth SMEs. In particular, for those healthcare organizations that have identified an organizational challenge, but do not find a ´perfectmatch ´ solution within their known providers, eHealth Hub will help them to identify other eHealth SMEs with solutions close to their challenge
The project has organisez networking and matchmaking events for mature eHealth SMEs to support their growth (sp. at international level). As a result the number of EU ´global champions´ gettipng international commercial traction (by connecting them to potential customers or distributors) should grow. This growth translates into attracting new talent to the sector and creating qualified jobs in Europe.
eHealth Hub has supported an increased deal flow in eHealth by helping SMEs and investors find each other and facilitate their interaction, both via physical events and on-line. As a result, more and ´smarter´ investment support sthe acceleration of growth of EU eHealth SMEs. 98 investors have already registered in the eHealth hub platform and 45 investors have participated in the Investment Readiness service.
Partners have failitated legal and regulatory guidance from pan-European Networks of 71 legal counsellors and 48 regulatory experts. The expected impact is an acceleration in the pace of development and business growth of eHealth SMEs by raising awareness, preventing and helping them solve Legal or Regulatory challenges.
