Minutes of the third Steering Committee Meeting

Under the coordination of ARRSA during the third Steering Committee Meeting partners will discuss about:

- general project management and coordination issues; relations with EASME and project officer; review of critical implementation risks and risk mitigation measures;

Communication and diffusion plan

WP 2 is dedicated to communication and diffusion activities, aimed at assuring the maximum impact of project results. WP 2 activities will produce a Communication and dissemination plan, and the actions needed to implement the plan.

The WP2 coordinator (ARRSA) will prepare a draft of the plan including all WP2 activities, that will be discussed and agreed by the Steering Committee at its first meeting (month 2). A final plan will be delivered by month 3.

Design Option Paper for “Smart Industrial villages” initiatives and innovation support services

The joint work of project partners together with the peer learning will produce a Design Options Paper for the implementation of local initiatives intended to develop a “Smart Industrial Village” and related innovation support services, and will promote an enhancement of the role and the effectiveness of development and innovation agencies as innovation intermediaries as expected by the topic

During the international meetings, partners will discuss outcomes of the peer learning and the case studies and will tryout the content of the DOP that will be the main deliverable of the project. Contents will include topics such as how to design a stakeholder engagement and a general renovation process, thematic technological and managerial options, innovation and entrepreneurship support and related services.

After the third International Peer Learning workshop partners will be able to prepare the final DOP.

The regional case study in Bielsko-Biala: report on local activities

The regional case study in Bielsko-Biala: report on local activities

ARRSA will work in the framework of the local discussio nof Smart Specialization at City Level and with the Local support group estaglished and coordinated to develop a Local Action Plan. ARRSA will focus to work closer with a local startup platform and the startup environment consisting of new technology companies, Startup Podbeskidzie (local startup bottom-up initiative) and local university, with its academic incubator initiative. New startup companies will be also supported by the FabLab Bielsko-Biala-Biała, located on the Special Economic Zone in the `basked Technology Incubator.

The report on local activities will describe stakeholder engagement activities (preliminary activities), focus groups, meeting and discussions about the renovation and promotion of the area (fist round of local activities), activities for discussing the design optin for the local Smart village and a possibile roadmap (second round of local activities), finalization of the case study and conclusions.

The report will be delivered by month 10.

The regional case study in Alentejo: report on local activities

ADRAL will work in the region’s main city, Évora, which is an Unesco World Heritage City with a recent and positive development in terms of components industry (example: Aeronautics Industry). The city is developing a urban renovation plan with a total budget of 9M€. This plan if well designed combined with the new industry and services investments from private companies can be the key factor for a boost in economic and population development, not only in the city but also in near small towns. The challenge is to combine together a smart, high quality and sustainable urban environment having good housing prices, with a growing specialized investment and employment and also with qualified and abundant human resources. A Smart, Innovative, Industrial and World Heritage City for a new development paradigm in rural cities.

The regional case study in Emilia-Romagna: report on local activities

ERVET will work within the Roveri industrial area located in the urban area of the city of Bologna (capital town of Emilia-Romagna Region). Area Roveri is characterized by hystorical small industrial and crafts activities, and by some services or recreational activities activated in the last few years. Some new enterprises included in the green economy sectors (e.g. electric mobility) have been recently located in the area. A process of renovation of the area is in progress, included in the general master plan of the city, and an initiative called “Roveri smart village” started in 2017.

The report on local activities will describe stakeholder engagement activities (preliminary activities), focus groups, meeting and discussions about the renovation and promotion of the area (fist round of local activities), activities for discussing the design optin for the local Smart village and a possibile roadmap (second round of local activities), finalization of the case study and conclusions.

The report will be delivered by month 10.
