Summary

Heating and cooling are the main energy consumers in buildings and account for two thirds of a building’s total energy consumption. Electricity costs are on a continuous upward trend in Europe. These values vary significantly across the European Union, ranging from 500-1000€ / year/ household. This cost is mainly due to inadequate insulation. In most cases, well-proven energy efficiency techniques can cut 70 to 90% of a building’s energy need for heating or cooling.
The selection of materials and technology are the number 1 responsible for the lack of energy efficiency buildings since current materials (e.g. PVC, aluminium, etc) provide poor performance and poor execution. Thus, there is a clear need for (1) improvement of the embodied energy of materials and technologies; (2) high performance windows and glazing systems (e.g. in very cold climates) and (3) compact and cheap storage systems (e.g. when renovating buildings).

Work performed

We have drafted the tasks, resources and timing needed to scale up PWS up to a TRL9 level.
We have established the risks associated to the drafted tasks together with the contingency measures that could reduce the impact of such events.
We have analysed the targeted market, by mans of its figures, main stakeholders, drivers, application levels, and regions, quantifying its projected figures expected for our market launch period.
We have developed a pricing strategy and a revenue model based on the customer´s willingness to pay and cost structure.
We have analysed the competitors strengths and weaknesses.
We have developed a short and longer term commercial strategy including dissemination events.
We have drafted the strategy to implement in terms of FTO IPR and regulatory approval.
We have extended our key stakeholders targeted entities, respect to our current ones.
We have performed an analysis of the financial projections accordingly to the previous market penetration goal, and drafted alternatives in case deviation occurs.

Final results

The overall benefits of our innovation market launch are:
END USERS: 47% reduction of equipment price, +50% longer lifespan of windows, reduces 50% assembly time and lowers energy bills up to 20%
SOCIETY: Reduction on energy consumption (80%) and CO2 emission (15%) that meets the European Commission 2050 agreement.
