The essential purpose of the SPRINT project is to support SNETP in the elaboration, and wide adoption and use of its strategic roadmaps.
1. Ensure an inclusive and efficient process for producing strategic roadmaps
2. Improve the ‘value proposal’ of SNETP for the fission R&D community in Europe
SNETP promotes further its role in the EU fission R&D community, and enhance its added value to its members (who represent a large part of the community), both by developing new services and by fostering the active participation of its members.
3. Confirm SNETP as a key player within the international energy technology landscape
4. Enhance the visibility and dialogue of SNETP towards a wider audience
Overview of WP1 - Strategic Roadmapping
The objective of WP1 was to provide support to SNETP for the publication of its strategic roadmapping documents. In this period the work was concentrated on finalisation of the NC2I Concept Paper that was finally renamed for Vision document. Work was started on the update of the SNETP SRIA - Strategic Research & Innovation Agenda and coordination regarding ETKM strategic report. The work foreseen in SPRINT did not replace, but supported and complemented the work provided in-kind by SNETP members in the elaboration of strategy documents. This work encompassed contributions in the content, as well as publication and distribution support for achieving the most efficient impact of the publications.
Overview of WP2 - Enhancing SNETP’s added value for the community
This Work Package aimed at adding value to SNETP, for its members and counterparts. SNETP has evolved to a fee-based structure, in which paying members are supporting the Platform’s work and expect SNETP to provide mutualised services. A benchmark of different national and international platforms was performed to identify services that are provided by similar clusters to their members. Close monitoring of different activities at the SNETP pillars level was assured and reported. Specifications for the Open Innovation Platform were defined and more visibility was given to education and training within SNETP communication tools.
Overview of WP3 – Interactions with SNETP’s technology environment
This Work Package aimed at increasing the recognition of SNETP as a key player in the European energy landscape, by channelling interactions with peer organisations (technology platforms, SET-Plan, international agencies), and by identifying synergies wherever possible. Close monitoring of interactions formalised or initiated by the SNETP representatives with external networks and other technological areas was completed. Proactive support to identify all the necessary elements to be taken into account for SNETP evolution towards a legal entity was assured and assistance to the task force in charge of drafting the legal documents was provided.
Overview of WP4 - Communicating SNETP
This Work Package aimed at reinforcing the image and visibility of SNETP in the European and international landscape, based on the strategic communication messages decided by the SNETP management.
Overview of WP5– Event management
Work Package 5 aimed at widely conveying the messages of SNETP, and engaging within and beyond the nuclear community, by organising and participating in European and international conferences and events.
Overview of WP6– Consortium Management
The general objective of this WP was to guarantee the respect of the project’s objectives, its overall internal coherence, time schedule, and quality assurance of deliverables
The main exploitable results coming from the P3 of the SPRINT project are :
- Strategic documents - NC2I Vision document 2018 widely distributed and SNETP SRIA update in advanced draft status
- Structuration of the SNETP SRIA launched and expected to be finalised by the SNETP governance in 2019/2020
- Continuous recommendations on new services for consideration by the future governance of the SNETP legal entity
- Inputs from mapping SNETP interactions and its stakeholders for possible future graphical visualisation online
- Support of the SNETP TF on SNETP Evolution with drafting of the legal documents and operational interactions with the SNETP pillars
- Monitoring on discussions related to SET Plan
- SNETP Open Innovation Platform
- ENS Platform for promoting information to young researchers
- Comprehensive and reasonable implementation of the communication strategy of the SNETP platform
SPRINT contributed to strengthen the role of SNETP as major nuclear R&D platform in Europe. This is recognised by the fact that SNETP evolves towards a legal entity and through its pillars has established number of formal or informal interactions with national and international counterparts.
SPRINT supported the visibility of SNETP through dedicated communication materials and events.
