Summary

Data usage over wireless networks is rapidly increasing as more consumers surf the web, check email and watch video on mobile devices. We have moved from using our mobile phones just to call/text people to watching HD movies, shop, play games, read newspapers, and much more while on the move. We do so using apps – consumer’s spend between 90% of their time spent on phones on games, news, productivity, utility, and social networking apps . This equates to 30 hours per month in apps . The content of these is highly dynamic. We measured BBC and Bild apps and found hundreds of content changes per day. Each content change is only available at the user device after being transferred over the network, including the wireless mobile channel. The time taken to transfer this causes latency for the user.

Tensera’s technology uses artificial intelligence (AI) based pre-fetch to optimize content delivery over the user content consumption pattern and the wireless channel and network conditions. For example, our algorithms would identify when an end-user is likely to have access to the Wi-Fi network available from their workplace or what app they read every morning.

Work performed

From the start of the Phase 1 Study we have updated our development plan, reviewed our industrialisation plan and related risk analyisis. A new market search has been conducted a potential competitors identified and evaluated. Financial forecasts for the Tensera project has been calculated on the basis of the novel findings.

Final results

Tensera’s OptimalFetch highly-scalable technology is uniquely able to handle today’s fast changing app content in a way that is efficient in device battery, memory, and data plan, and network resources. This breakthrough technology has the ability to transform the mobile experience and achieved unprecedented 100x improvements in content loading time, as well as up to 80% cellular data savings, up to 5x bandwidth savings, and battery savings.
