Professionals of the king of sports (coaches, managers, players, scouters, etc.) have a great margin to improve their training sessions and performance in competition with the implementation of new technologies that allow a detailed knowledge of the game. Improvement of performance features and training efficiency by a factor of 3 is achievable, as well as the reduction of injuries, estimated to cost up to 30% of the players’ annual payrolls.
Our innovation integrates a sensor in each player’s shin guard, a tagged ball and 6+ anchor nodes around the playing field communicating with the sensor nodes for data exchange and distance measurement. A powerful SW platform implementing cutting-edge algorithms and machine learning techniques communicates with all anchor nodes via UWB for precise automated location determination, yielding advanced game statistics.
The work covers the objectives for the Phase 1 proposal, which includes:
Technical feasibility: the results prove the correct integration of the different modules of the software and considerations to reach TRL9.
Freedom to Operate analyzed a number of patents which have been identified. Non-significant findings jeopardize the project, and we indicate the protection measures to be taken by XSOCCER. Also, normative and regulations to be fulfilled are analyzed.
Commercial feasibility includes the identification of market actions for penetration and relevant key clients, as well as market size analysis.
Financial feasibility and business plan include a sales forecast, EBITDA estimations, and market risks identification. Our business plans a 2 years project with 1.3M€ budget, and a 4.3 ROI, with a total of an accumulated 7M€ profit.
Tracking on sports is a technology since earlier 2000 were when miniaturized GPS systems became available. There are currently a number of commercial products designed for similar purposes as XSOCCER, but none of them is able to achieve a comparable technical performance today. 7 potential competitors have been analyzed in detail, including big players (Catapult, ASI, Tracktics). It has been recognized the possibility that these big players to become “affiliate partners†to add XSOCCER into their respective portfolios.
