Summary
This document serves as the feasibility study of the software product CorTime, an optimisation control tool for 3D CAD/CAE developed by Apiosoft. The purpose of the feasibility study is to act as yardstick for the decision to launch this venture and as touchstone in the development of the business. The objectives of the feasibility study – phase 1 – is to prepare phase 2 by:
• Gaining insight into the relevant segments and determine which are the most relevant initial target segments
• Identifying relevant pilot customers in the target segments
• Prepare 2-3 pilot projects with the identified pilot customers
• Finalise a thorough business plan that can be the basis for at phase 2 application and for attracting further investments
Work performed
To meet these objectives the following tasks have been conducted:
1. To analyse CAD/CAM software strategies and data protocols for adaptation in the target markets in order to determine which segments and regions would be most relevant for the demonstration projects
2. Prepare an implementation strategy for the software adaptation steps and determine what human resources are present in the company and what is needed
3. Identify and connect with relevant pilot partners
4. Prepare the 2-3 pilot projects
5. Identify and develop connections with relevant re-sellers
6. Prepare a thorough business plan
The result of the feasibility study was positive in terms of continuing with the CorTime project, a phase 2 application will be submitted to the EU Horizon 2020 Participant Portal for evaluation before the deadline on 15th June 2016. We identified several user needs throughout the process study and have prepared an implementation strategy to ensure that these user needs will be implemented upon completion of the CorTime project.
Final results
The business plan as mentioned in objective 6 can be found as appendix 1 to this feasibility study report and will also form the basis for the phase 2 application. The business plan covers a thorough analysis of both the CAD and CAE markets in terms of market size, growth expectations and market share of the major software companies. It also describes the concept and approach as well as the impact of the project and defines a strategy on how the CorTime adaptation shall proceed, including an analysis of the expected sales and increase in employment as a result of the CorTime project five years in advance. Finally, the business plan concludes on the implementation and financial requirements that are necessary in order to successfully execute the CorTime adaptation.
