Summary

All over the world, there are numerous trends driving the use of sensor systems. For each day that passes, users are demanding more and more information in order to be able to make informed decisions to increase efficiency in their operations. However, this expansion is being limited as it requires the use of inflexible and expensive power sources. Without a market introduction of a flexible, cost-effcient and environmentally friendly power source the usage of sensor systems will be heavily limited.

The European Union and the Commission has in several white papers (the 2011 Single European Transport Area Roadmap and the Flightpath 2050 document) highlighted the importance of developing new and improving current transport patterns. ReVibe’s products will directly contribute to achieving the above mentioned goals. Through enabling a mobile and wireless power source, the use of data collecting sensor systems on trains, helicopters, heavy duty vehicles and other transportation vessels will increase with the intention of monitoring and controlling the performance and status of vital components through predictive maintenance.

ReVibe Energy (ReVibe) set out on this SME Phase 1 project to investigate previously identified key market applications further, to verify that the technical solution developed by ReVibe has a strong product-market-fit and investigate important aspects that ReVibe needs to be aware of before expanding the company.

Work performed

ReVibe has during the Phase 1 project performed the following tasks: 1) Detailed market study concerning a) the Rail transport market and b) the Air transport market and if these segments can be considered to be attractive markets for ReVibe to target. The results indicate that the market of cargo wagons and helicopter transport are particularly interesting to target for ReVibe. Proof can be found in ReVibe acquiring Deutsche Bahn and a Helicopter manufacturer as pilot customers. 2) Identify potential new key market segments: This has been done in the identification of Manufacturers and operators of construction/industrial vehicles. 3) Identify and evaluate key certifications. 4) Determine cost of ReVibe\'s products at high volumes.

Final results

ReVibe has made great progress in terms of market intelligence and is looking forward to developing the products further in the future to go beyond the state of the art. The expected potential impact is expected to be large when ReVibe acquires the resources needed to develop the company.
