Demand of paints and coatings is influenced by cleaner coatings with high performance and durability and at low price. The water-based technology led the demand worldwide. However, they present some performance drawbacks like poor durability, resistant to corrosion, etc. Another option is the powder coatings because its durability and performance, but still presents some disadvantages. They contain hazardous air pollulants like Bisphenol A and they cannot be applied in all the substrates like wood and EPS, because the heating curing temperature is high (200ºC) and they have poor aesthetic value.
Our company with more than 25 years of expertise in the industrial, construction and nuclear coatings sectors has developed a new system that responds to those needs and replace the existing coating methods.
In order to confirm the feasibility of our project we have carried out a 5-month study consisting on:
Technical Plan: tested a new low-pressure pump and analyzed main requirements to automate our system. Tested the KEMISTATIC resins in Wood and EPS substrate. Developed a complete Execution Plan for the Phase 2 project, including planning, organization, risk analysis and budget.
Commercialization and Business Plan: thorough market analysis performed has identified our target markets (powder coatings and paints in general), which present great potential. Commercial strategy has been defined: (2019-2020): Germany, Denmark, Finland, Spain, Serbia, Poland and Ukraine, 2021: Africa and ASIA-PAC and 2022-2023: East-EU, USA and ROW.
Freedom to Operate Analysis: executed a FtO analysis to study the compatibility of our technology and our resins to different markets. We found 19 patents from direct competitors and 17 from other electrostatic spraying coating systems, however, none of them are a threat to our innovative results
We expect to deploy the KEMISTATIC technology worldwide with our a low-cost (€150,000 initial investment), patented electrostatic, fully automated, spraying system. It can be applied to substrates of any size and material, saving up to €180,000/year and 150m3/hour of CO2 emissions. The two-component resins are solvent-free (VOCs & Bisphenol A), with enhanced protection (corrosion, wear resistance, electrical insulation) and aesthetic potentials.
It will also enable our company to grow, both financially- achieving revenues of approx. €33.15 million and profits of €14.45. million in 2023- and in personnel- we will hire 67 more people.
