HarvPell will bring to the market a revolutionary solution for stalk-type biomass harvesting and pelleting in one single machine. In this feasibility study, we attempted to define the viability of the project from a technical, commercial and financial point of view, considering the freedom to operate for our technology, defining the tasks and the resources needed, the potential customers, the size of the market and the impact that the project will have in our company’s business and in the society.
We have defined the tasks, resources and collaborations needed for redesigning the components to assemble, optimize and validate the 16t/h self-driving pilot remotely controlled. This will take 2 years and 2.31M€. We have assured our freedom to operate through a IPR analysis. We have defined the target markets and customer segments to launch our PELLETEC D16.0 by the end of 2019. We have identified the stakeholders needed for success and the dissemination and communication activities have been defined accordingly. We have outlined a 3-years commercial strategy for PELLETEC D16.0 and the sales forecasts. With all of it, we estimate that HarvPell will report near 26M€ revenue to the company and will create 36 direct jobs by 2022.
HarvPell will bring to the market a revolutionary solution for stalk-type biomass harvesting and pelleting in one single machine. The outcome of the project will offer a cost-effective alternative to farmers, farm cooperatives and machinery contractors involved in the pellet industry. It is an all-in-one self-driving machine able to harvest and pelletize 16t/h, with a consumption of 20-25kWh/t and a specific pelletizing costs under 25€/t. PELLETEC will save work steps during the pelleting process, saving up to 50% of the working time, reducing by 100% pre-pelleting transportation costs, and reducing by 56-63% compressing and storage costs when compared to straw bales. With PELLETEC D16.0, our customers can harvest between 3 and 8 times more product and it can be used all year with different crops.
Furthermore, it will have a positive impact in the rural areas in Europe and other target markets.
Additionally, PELLETEC D16.0 has the potential to avoid the release of 30Mt of CO2eq only in Europe and create between 1,470 and 1,860 €/ha extra incomes for the farmers from crop residues exploitation for energy pellets. Finally, it offers a cost-effective alternative for the recovering of degraded and contaminated soils.
