Best Practice Guidance DocumentBest Practice Guide – Production of best practice guidance document which can be utilised by organisations throughout the EU and form a roadmap for future DWDS protocol and standards and publication of this via academic, industrial and project specific platforms. Programme: H2020-EU.1.3.3. - Topic(s): MSCA-RISE-2017 |

Wat-Qual WorkshopA launch workshop at the beginning of the project (M2) will be held to facilitate team-building, refine and finalise the project goals and secondment details, and a knowledge transfer/training workshop towards the end of the project (M22) open to external participants where the key findings and best practice will be disseminated. This will be co-located (if possible) with a larger water-focussed event to ensure maximal participation. Programme: H2020-EU.1.3.3. - Topic(s): MSCA-RISE-2017 |

Chapter 3Chapter 3: of the guidance document will be prepared following the final secondment (M11) to summarise the scientific evidence to support (or reject) the use of certain practices for DWDS maintenance and repair. A key element of this chapter will be to summarise the different practices recommended by local, regional, or national regulators and professional associations to understand how this research could be implemented more widely across Europe, and whether changes to practices should be pursued to ensure safe drinking water. Chapter 2Chapter 2: of the guidance document will be prepared following the final secondment (M23) to bring together the fundamental research findings on water quality dynamics in DWDS with practical advice for managing controllable factors such as chlorine residuals, microbiological content, biofilms, inorganic contaminants and uncontrollable factors such as temperature and customer demands. Many of these topics have linkages to the content in other work packages and therefore the final document will have multiple cross-references to help water utilities navigate the complex interrelationships between parameters related to DWDS water quality. Programme: H2020-EU.1.3.3. - Topic(s): MSCA-RISE-2017 |

Chapter 1Chapter 1 - of the guidance document will be prepared following the final secondment (M19) to bring together the findings in the context of recommendations to industry on water quality impacts, positive and negative, from flushing. This guidance will cover how the fundamental understanding of accumulation processes influences the design and implementation of flushing programmes along with provision of tools, techniques and approaches for water utilities to use to predict and manage flushing and possibly also to design DWDS for a future with no need for flushing.
