Enterprise software market needs many more applications to support business digitalization, fulfil user expectations, and be competitive. This cannot be achieved with the currently accepted software production, delivery and maintenance model. The development bottleneck escalates for global companies and multinational EU corporates, which need to localize their software for a wide variety of cultures, languages, rules, and legislations.
Starcounter proposes a fundamentally new approach and technology for developing and deploying enterprise software. Starcounter combines an in-memory database and application server with a machine learning engine for app-to-app interoperation of unlimited scalability. It allows independently developed applications working seamlessly together out-of-the-box. Integration can become deep, fast, synchronous and practically infinitely scalable allowing to develop sophisticated and complex systems. Adapting Starcounter in addition to scaling development of enterprise software and business digitalization enable multinational corporations centralizing their main software modules while being able to localize individual modules for individual countries and EU states. This technology lets more small and medium enterprises (SMEs) enable their competitive offerings into the IT market through collaboration at the ecosystem with their software modules. The total economic impact is organic net GDP growth with proportional taxes return with creation of new enterprises and working places.
The objective of this project is to finalize and enhance development of software technology for enabling it for large number of users and grow globally through both development and dissemination activities. This requires to further enhance and scale up the Starcounter platform, so it meets needs of different customers and ready to cope with increase of customers and users. As a result of the project action, the goals of the project have been successfully achieved, as reflected in the Final Report. In particular, several of our international partners are adopting the developed technology, global awareness of the technology and product has been raised, and a multitude of new product functionalities have been implemented.
The on-going work is concentrated on development to enhance the Starcounter platform and on dissemination activities to on-board more customers. The development is performed according to the plan and closely working with customers, so the enhancement is in line with customer needs and the project objectives. The on-going development allowed us to improve efficiency of working with on-going customer projects. Thus, we are prepared for more customers projects, which are expected to come from the dissemination activities.
In addition to enhancing platform functionality, the on-going work covers quality assurance and improvements on continuous integration and benchmarking infrastructure.
\"The Starcounter platform allows to develop enterprise applications in a novel way, which combines independently developed components with less effort than the state-of-the-art integration techniques. The platform is being tested on real customer projects and in production environment. Customers report that switching to the Starcounter platform solves operational pains, which were in place with the state-of-the-art technology implementations. In contrast to state-of-the-art, a significantly (i.e. times) less effort is now needed to both develop a software module (though Starcounter platform — only using well-known software techniques and languages, such as C# and SQL) and integrate modules for working together (using AI-driven mapping and blending technologies).
As for the socio-economic impact, adapting Starcounter technology, in addition to scaling development of enterprise software and business digitalization, enable multinational corporations centralizing their main software modules while being able to localize individual modules for individual countries and EU states. The technology lets more small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which have not originally been software companies, enable their competitive offerings into the IT market through collaboration at the ecosystem with their own software modules. The economic impact is organic net GDP growth with proportional taxes return and creation of new enterprises and working places.
