Summary

The current WWW presents with a number of limitations hampering the massive implementation of IoT worldwide. Unidirectional data transfer through middleware (e.g. APIs) translates into unsurmountable efficiency, latency, and throughput issues. The lack of security and privacy is yet another growing problem, with data being systematically stored in hundreds of databases that can be easily accessed by anyone with some basic knowledge.

We give away every single personal detail to companies on the likes of Microsoft, or Google, who trade it in exchange of money. Laws protecting privacy (e.g. the European GDPR directive) are in place, but the lack of supportive technological measures cannot guarantee that this information will not be stolen (or still be shared) by third parties.

About five percent of total global energy usage is by electronics. That number is projected to grow to at least 40% by 2030. The information and communications technology (ICT) sector predicts to use 20% of all the world’s electricity by 2025 and emit up to 5.5 percent of all carbon emissions.

At Nornir, we want to overcome these limitations by implementing the disruptive Real Time Web (RTW) network. Synx BIOS, our new generation distributed kernel bringing RTW to life. It allows bidirectional linking between objects and services, while ensuring data integrity in an Open Linked Data network. Synx BIOS does not store data in databases or centralized hubs, safeguarding the privacy and unique identity from billions of objects in a global network. This property makes possible to implement the first-ever micropayment tool, enabling the generation of revenue through data trading. This feature opens-up a universe of new financial possibilities, where individuals and companies are equal players.

SYNX overcomes all security, implementation and technology fragmentation restraints to fully develop the IoT market to its full potential. It also reduces 50% implementation costs and time, saves 50% energy consumption and system maintenance cost is reduced by 90%. SYNX requires less hardware, less energy and less maintenance, while providing a simple and easy integration, making it the greenest and most sustainable technology available.

Work performed

We prepared the roadmap to complete the development and optimization of our core engine SYNX BIOS and AI integration tool to fully operate in private networks. This plan includes the optimization of the current version of the security, services and trade tools MVPs to be integrated at SYNX BIOS for private networks; Additionally, we continued to expand our pilot testing program in different industrial and services areas (e.g. smart buildings with Optimalt Bygg AS and the Oil & Gas industry with MHWirth) to further substantiate the validity and suitability of our technology to improve company´s daily operations.
We defined the associated work plan, to be included in the roadmap of the SYNX project.
The feasibility study included a deep analysis of internet of things, streaming and payment markets in target countries and the validation of the financial assumptions.
The commercialization strategy, business model and communication strategy were also fully elaborated, including the preparation and update of local marketing strategies (web/social media updates, SEO campaigns, Press Releases…).
A full FTO analysis was also performed, leading us to the appropriate IP strategy through an ambitious multi-faceted strategy. In this context, regulatory barriers were also assessed.
Finally, we developed the complete financial plan, based on the initial 5-year forecast, and further detailed the resources needed to complete the project and optimize profitability.

Final results

RTW has architectural characteristics offering unparalleled performance compared to WWW, Blockchain and Cloud computing (our competitors) and it is fully compatible with WWW, so it is not our intention to replace it, but to overcome its limitations. Blockchain and Cloud computing technologies can however, be fully replaced by RTW in 5-15 years, thanks to its unique approach.
RTW is a decentralized network much like the WWW and Blockchain. The difference is that instead of using distributed ledger with slow transaction process for verifying resources in the network, the “chain” is managed by our event-driven distributed kernel (Synx BIOS), which clones a neural image of the linking topology for local processing. That means that there is almost zero latency on data transactions and can scale much faster and efficiently than traditional methods. RTW outperforms competitors in areas such as the event-driven architecture or having bidirectional linking.
RTW PERFORMANCE is (by far) better, as shown by the fact that is the only one enabling linear scalability of IoT systems when new networks of devices and services are added. RTW emphasizes transfer and processing of data where and when it is needed, achieving true data distribution. One of the most immediate benefits from RTW is reduced development and maintenance COSTS for all players within the value chain, which is typically reduced from months to days or even minutes. Yet another benefit is its EASE-OF-USE compared to competitors, who rely on ever-changing APIs and frequently suffer API breakage. RTW does not make use of APIs, making life-cycle management of sensors –Typical sensor management tasks include configuration, identity, ownership and security– a simple task. As an example, vendors that make IoT products containing sensors simply will have to enrol the products and sensors on their website, instead of sending the data to a databased and then share the data from the database with the API.
RTW key principle, preservation of the user´s privacy at all times solves one of the most relevant menaces that needs to be addressed by authorities (data leakage), translating into a key BENEFIT FOR SOCIETY.
It overcomes security, implementation and technology fragmentation restraints to fully develop the IoT market to its full potential. In number, it also reduces 50% implementation costs and time, saves 50% energy consumption and system maintenance cost is reduced by 90%.
