High-resolution lidar dataset

High-resolution lidar dataset :
Similar datasets to the one produced in D4.2 shall be produced based on lidar temperature measurements with high time resolution also with data from the equatorial and southern tropic regions that is at the instrument cluster sites at Observatory of Haute-Provence, the Maïdo Observatory at la Réunion. Also data from ALOMAR and the DLR mobile lidar in Ivory Coast should be included. The dataset will be made accessible to the general scientific community during the ARISE2 project.

Dataset comprising MST and meteor Radar and infrasound :
A dataset comprising the applied technologies in D4.2, including MST and meteor Radar over altitudes from ~30-105 km, and infrasound waveform data collected during the same timeframe. Methodologies for inversion using the infrasound data are then assessed to make corrections and validations to the middle atmosphere models.

High-latitude dataset

High-latitude dataset :
This task will yield an example dataset in which the upper atmosphere properties are assessed for a given timespan using the different technologies in the high-latitude region including the observatories at ALOMAR, IRF-Kiruna and NTNU-Trondheim. The dataset shall be made public and accessible to the general scientific community at the latest by the end of the ARISE2 project.

Data standard specification

Data standard specification :
A document which lays out a data format specification intended to be used when comparing output from different the technologies we use for atmospheric modelling. The format should be “self-describing” and platform-independent. This deliverable hence concludes on the choice of an under-the-hood data format. This shall be an effective and open format and good candidate formats include the well-established Flexible Image Transport System (FITS), GRIB (GRIdded Binary or General Regularly-distributed Information in Binary form), Hierarchical Data Format (HDF), NetCDF (Network Common Data Form) and Common Data Format (CDF).
• A set of defined variable names in the International System of Units (SI).
• A set of meta-data attributes which describe the properties of the data. These shall also be possible to store within in the selected data format files.
• Open-source tools which can convert data into the specified format.
The data format shall also include information about the method used to convert the “raw data” into the “atmosphere model data.” The associated report shall also point to open-access tools which can be used to access and visualize the data. If necessary, such tools (or plug-ins to such tools) will need to be developed.
