Summary

Due to the advent of the industry 4.0 the demand for 3D digital product design and computerized manufacturing has never been higher. The problem today, however, is that digital 3D design techonlogy is expensive to acquire, complex to use, and restricted to highly skilled engineers. Mirrakoi SA makes digital design accessible, affordable, easy to use and learn for everybody.

We provide a technology that is intuitive to use but also affordable enough such that everyone with an idea can be a designer. Today, high-end software for computer-aided design (CAD) is only usable by highly trained experts and high costs are involved for CAD education but also for software licenses. The consequence is that small businesses, such as small product design studios, e.g. jewellery-, shoe-, furniture-designers and others as well as small architect firms cannot afford high-end CAD solutions. However, in the age of industry 4.0, computerized manufacturing and 3D printing, it becomes increasingly important for society that digital design software for manufacturing becomes affordable and accessbile to everyone and no longer represents such high access barriers as is the case today.

Mirrakoi aims at transforming the CAD industry in the age of computerized manufacturing and automated production. Our objective is to help existing businesses to lower manufacturing costs and accelerate time-to-market. Moreover, we provide access to CAD education for designers and engineers, especially in a time where hand-labour is disappearing, work-forces need to be retrained and society needs to deal with the digitalization and consequences of the industry 4.0.

Work performed

In the framework of this project a complete market analysis and economic feasibility study was carried out to assess the commercial potential of Mirrakoi\'s technology in vertical industries as well as when segmenting the industry by geography. A growth analysis for the respective markets was performed and different marketing channels and strategies were analyzed in different industries and countries. As a result, four key pillars to focus on are identified regarding product placement, customer support and promotion, geographical focus, and early growth driven by innovation. Core growth factors are assessed for each pillar and concrete strategic steps to undertake are determined.

Final results

Mirrakoi has developed a novel 3D digital design technology and the beta version of its first product is available for public testing. In parallel a salesforce and digital distribution infrastructure and customer support has been set up. As a continuation of this project, we expect to deliver the first commercial product this year, whose core technology serves as a basis for follow-up products. Our aim is to accelerate the transformation towards digital and computerized manufacturing in the age of industry 4.0 for small and large architecture-, design-, and manufacturing companies. By offering a technology that is easy to learn and use and affordable to everyone, we make digital product design accessible to everyone such that CAD technology is no longer exclusive to highly trained engineers and experts. In this regard, we help businesses to overcome the challenges when transitioning to digital production methods as well as accelerating existing digital workflows. Instead of jobs being lossed in manufacturing and industrial design due to the industry 4.0, we belive that new jobs can be created by making high-end 3D design technology usable for everyone.
