 Project objective

The proposal aims to help the Applicant to resume research after a career break and attain a position of professional independence and maturity. These objectives will be achieved through the enhancement of her creative and innovative research potential and the increment of her skills firstly by carrying out a research project in a pioneering field, secondly by advanced training and thirdly by inter-sectoral mobility. The project will provide guidance material to assist housing associations and related companies in the design development of sustainable social housing by the implementation of the circular economy. It will support the design of housing solutions that will be easier to maintain, repair, upgrade, refurbish, re-manufacture or recycle with respect to traditional ones. This goal will be obtained by the development of a representative housing design sample and related significant circular components, and thereafter the synthesis of outcomes in a guide. Through advanced training, the Applicant will enhance her research-related skills as well as transferable skills about project management, exploitation, dissemination and communication to different audiences. Learning will be strengthened by the management of the project and any possible IPR, publications, conferences participation, dissemination in academic and non-academic sectors as well as public engagement event contribution. The secondment in a global firm involved in design and engineering consulting for the built environment will contribute to enhance her competence to convert ideas into circular building products, and it will boost collaboration between academic and non-academic sectors. The Fellowship will benefit at the Applicant level improving her employability in and outside academia, at the organization level increasing cooperation and knowledge transfer between academic and non-academic sectors, and at the system level contributing to Europe’s sustainable growth meanwhile fostering innovation
