20 billion euros or 250 M metric tons of CO2 equivalent green-house gases could be saved only in Europe with optimal thermal energy storages. IT and telecommunication represent a particular industrial segment, where the cooling system alone may account for up to 30-40% in average of the energy demands. This results in a significant cost factor to owners, operators, and service providers.
For existing systems HeatTank is an efficient cooling solution, saves energy and reduces the initial costs, also increases the operation security.
Application of HeatTANK for cooling systems saves energy and thus reduces green-house gas emission. Moreover, the use of HeatTANK reduces electricity consumption at peak hours.
What are the overall objectives?
Our objectives during the feasibility study was to supervise our product and our strategies to find out that we are in the right path. Our tasks describe the pains and needs, create case studies, cost-benefit analysis, business and commercialization plan, identify the risks and to prepare for the Phase2 application.

Work performed

We defined our standard products, fitting to the customers needs, investigated several phase change material (PCM) and designed our control system. We made cost prediction and our biggest cost is the PCM and we will built an own factory to reduce this costs. We investigated many data centers and created some typical case-study which show that our ROI is under 3 years. We are still concentrating on data centers and telecommunication sites and preparing for the next step: office building cooling.
We made comprehensive business plan. We investigated the European market and ranked the countries. We will start with Germany, Spain and Italy because they got the best rank. We made 50+ customer interviews to found out the customer needs and we could make our sales more customizable. In three years totally our revenue will be over 6 million euros and the total profit over 1,3 M euros.
Technical and business risks were identified and ranked according to severity in a report and risk mitigation plans were established for each risk.
Finally we identified our next goal which will be an own phase change material factory, to save money and ensure the quality and the supply security.

Final results

With energy saving and CO2 emission reduction we are going to make the world a better and cleaner place, because energy storage and the green technologies are very important to be sustainable. We are expanding the company and will hire 15+ professionals.
