Review report on environmental, societal and policy challenges in on river-sea systems and emerging research and legislation needs - final version

This report comes out from task 2.2. led by UOB. This report will contain information on environmental, societal and policy challenges all over the catchment areas from countries/regions participating to this consortium. Furthermore, it will be sought if these challenges are also “valid” for other areas as DANUBIUS-RI will not be a network of “isolated islands” but a driver of environmental&social development. First report is due in Month 18 and the final, updated version will be due in Month 36

DANUBIUS-RI ontology reference document - final

Communication difficulties originate to a large extent from the ‘jargon’ used in the different communities. For the success of the RI it is crucial to start building towards using a commonly understood jargon, i.e. a common language. This report will be a thesaurus of terms and their understanding, which will provide the commin understanding and will thus support to bridge the gap between science disciplines as well as the gap between scientists and policy makers, water managers and entrepreneurs. The first version is due in Month 4 and the final one in Month 36.

Implementation of application interfaces - final version

This report presents the implementations of the interfaces and services, and provides templates for associated organisations to provide compatible and standardised services that intermesh with those of the core. The recommendations from Task 8.2 provide the foundation, while taking account of the capabilities, existing facilities and preferences of contributing partners. A demonstration of these interfaces will serve to enable the ICT e-infrastructure and e-learning centre described in T5.8., including a virtual research environment for research applications, development and innovation as well as education applications. The first version is due in Month 18 and the final one in Month 36.

Report on quality assurance procedures in the future DANUBIUS-RI

This Deliverable builds on the Deliverable 6.6 and – as the previous one - contains the categories of benchmarking relevant for DANUBIUS-RI (e.g. processes, technologies, products, cooperation and progress).
A procedure will be developed to guarantee the permanent high quality of the RI outputs and their compatibility with other RIs. This procedure will also include a proposal for a methodology on how “high quality” and “excellence” are permanently checked and – when needed – upgraded. Besides this quality reviewing methodologies, the report will also include means of adding quality control methodologies for processes that may have not been included in the initial design of the RI. A procedure will be developed to guarantee that DANUBIUS-RI will integrate the impacts on European and local environmental policy into the whole process, from the establishment of the DANUBIUS-RI infrastructure to the operational phase. Means to measure and promote the impact of the RI on society and related policies will also be included. This Deliverable will be finished in Month 36.

This report will present the vision on how DANUBIUS-RI will look in the future, beyond the Preparatory Phase – and how changes may occur during the Operation Phase. Any new changes must reflect the need to respond to future needs. Several criteria will be presented but enough flexibility will be also included in order to allow particular issues to be included. An initial version will be made available in Month 26 and the final one in Month 36.

Report of the governance structure of the RI

The legal structure of DANUBIUS-RI will be decided by the members of the consortium after consultation of stakeholders (government representatives) from countries participating to this project. Keeping in mind that the members of an RI legal structure are NOT research organisations but countries consultation and visa from appropriate stakeholders (governments) is required. This report will include also the detailed description on the future management bodies, number of persons involved, number of votes, membership, possibility to join and to withdraw the consortium. Report on the relationship between any component part of the RI that is outside the legal entity, and the legal entity

DANUBIUS-RI will comprise components which will have 2 legal positions: either part of the ERIC, or in close connection with the ERIC but maintaining the previous legal position (mainly in the case of existing components). In each case, detailed legal agreements must be developed to understand how all the elements will interact in harmony, ensuring the DANUBIUS-RI sustainability. The deliverable is due in Month 24.

Strategic Science and Innovation Agenda underpinning the technical and organisational design of DANUBIUS-RI - final report

This document is among the most important ones in this project. There will be a double leadership for this deliverable (HZG and UOB) but all consortium members will be heavily involved in this agenda. The two leaders will join their efforts to coordinate all participants as well as to “process” and information received from several sources (e.g. science community, users, etc.). The team working in this task and subsequently for this deliverable will establish links with WP 5 and WP 6. First report is due in Month 24 and the final, updated version will be due in Month 36.

DANUBIUS-RI professional training program module

Under- and post-graduate courses will be reviewed to determine gaps in course content and the number of suitably qualified graduates currently being trained. This, in combination with consultation with policy-makers and relevant industries, will be used to inform the development of a common language educational training module (methodology for trans-disciplinary/trans-boundary). This process will underpin development of a short-course for current professionals as part of their Continuous Professional Development (CPD). This will be delivered through DANUBIUS-RI. The Deliverable will be submitted in Month 24.
