Forsway produces a unique solution to bridge the global digital divide now. Currently more than 45% of the world’s population, some 3.4B people, does not have access to affordable internet connectivity, a major obstacle to sustainable, equitable development. Providing economically viable broadband in the ‘problem terrain’ outside urban and suburban population concentrations is challenging. Forsway, a leading developer of hybrid satellite/terrestrial communications in Europe, has developed a unique hybrid communications solution which combines existing satellite and terrestrial mobile services to provide affordable digital broadband access. Our visionary team has a global perspective: to combine the best of satellite and terrestrial communications into hybrid networks, to connect the world to the internet. Our solution can bridge the digital divide now, rather than when delayed new infrastructure projects are ready. This approach is made possible by a very strong market position and close customer cooperation. This project is the first step in an accelerated commercialisation of our hybrid communications solution, bringing them to a successful market entry within 3 years. We anticipate, by 2023, connecting an additional 1M users to the internet, create huge economic and societal value in the underserviced markets of emerging economies in the developing world, as well as rural and remote regions in the developed world. This will generate €42M in revenue and 19 jobs for Forsway, and more than 150 jobs in our supply chain, as we address a €100B underserviced market.
