 Obiettivo del progetto (Objective)

'Freie Universität Berlin is one of the largest universities in Germany and one with a most vibrant and diverse research spectrum. In the German Excellence Initiative of 2007, Freie Universität Berlin was awarded for its institutional strategy of the International Network University and eight further Excellence Projects most of them unique on the European or global level. An inherent component of this institutional strategy is the promotion of young researchers on all stages of the academic career. Freie Universität Berlin will therefore implement the Dahlem Research Fellowship scheme targeted at experienced researchers from all over the World. The new fellowship scheme will allow researchers to carry out cutting edge research projects in the outstanding environment of one of the university’s eight Excellence projects. The programme will integrate a network of leading researchers in the respective field for cooperation projects. In addition, fellows will benefit from the training support, mentoring and career development schemes jointly offered by the Excellence Projects and Dahlem Research School, the Center for the Promotion of Young Scientists at Freie Universität, which will also coordinate the programme. A highly elaborated selection ensures that only the best and brightest candidates will be admitted and that gender and trans-sectional aspects will be attentively considered. The uniqueness of the research fields, the extraordinary conditions for research and the support by training and mentoring in the Excellence Projects at Freie Universität Berlin will enable top level young researchers to raise quality of their research considerably and therefore to boost their own professional career.'
