'The B-MOB project objective is to provide the researchers the opportunity to deepen and widen their skills, by increasing their transnational mobility, adding different and complementary research competences at an advanced level, reinforcing their own professional maturity and experience. The project also wants to pave the way to make the research profession more attractive and interesting for young researchers. The project aims to exploit synergies between Community actions and those at Regional/National level, in order to increase their numerical and qualitative impact (in terms of supported researchers) and in order to combat research fragmentation. Moreover, this project will enable Biscay to reinforce its scientific capacity, by strengthening our networks abroad and reaching an adequate number of researchers, assuring the development of the research activities and of the economic growth of Biscay and of Europe, and thus, contributing actively to the ERA. The programme comprises three complementary actions, which will give researchers the opportunity to develop, while working at high-level research institutions of Biscay and worldwide, a project fitting their individual needs; to benefit from advantageous working conditions and all of the necessary benefits for this new step of their career. These three actions are: -Support the integration of experienced researchers in Biscay -Support to the linking of external collaborators who participate in innovative projects in Biscay -Support for the training of qualified people abroad, with a return phase to Biscay Bizkaia:xede presents this project for additional support by the Marie Curie Programme. The association has been created in 2004 with the purpose of developing an integral territorial strategy of talent management and has partnerships with universities, technological centres, and large companies located in the region of Bilbao (Spain). Since 2008, bizkaia:xede is a Local Contact Point to Euraxess.'
An EU-funded initiative which aims to help researchers to deepen and widen their skills through increased transnational mobility and advancing research competences. The overall purpose is to boost the knowledge and innovating ability of Biscayan researchers, contributing to economic growth.
The project 'Supporting international mobility and training in Bizkaia' (http://bt-rea.org/ (B-MOB)) is a financial aid programme offering experienced researchers (ERs) support, networking and training, and contributing to their professional development. These researchers are developing their own projects in strategic research areas and will now be able to do so in association with research organisations based in Bizkaia (Spain).
Overall, the purpose of B-MOB is to promote development of research activities and the area's economic growth (and subsequently that of Europe). Co-funded under the Seventh Framework Programme's (FP7) Marie Curie Actions, the initiative is organised around three mobility schemes. Mode 1 supports ER integration in Bizkaia (incoming mobility and reintegration). Mode 2 supports the linking of external collaborators in innovative projects in Bizkaia (incoming mobility, ERs with over 10 years' experience). Mode 3 supports training of qualified people abroad, with a return phase to Bizkaia (outgoing mobility).
For four yearly calls to the end of June 2016, project activities cover publication of the call for researchers, call for experts for evaluation, assessment of received applications, selection and award process, and overall project management.
Of the 18 research proposals received in the first call, 15 were approved and 11 researchers were awarded a grant. Following the second call, launched in April 2013, 44 applications were received and 22 research grants were awarded. The third call attracted 38 applications, of which 30 were approved and 23 research grants were awarded.
B-MOB's fourth and final call spans the period March to May 2015. More information is available on the http://bt-rea.org/ (project website).
Project efforts aim at increasing research impact, diminishing fragmentation, and reinforcing Bizkaia's scientific capacity by strengthening international networks abroad and reaching more researchers. B-MOB activities are improving the region's research activities as a whole as well as its economic growth, and thus actively contribute to the European Research Area (ERA).
