'Raising public awareness and interest for science and research still requires continuous and dedicated work. People usually react curious and excited about themes that are strange and unknown to them. Provoking curiosity seems to be a good starting point to an exploration into the hardly-known world of research and its activities to enhance public recognition at the Researchers Night.
A university invites the public to enter its portals and experience the world of research, where fitness is a key to success. Fitness is much more than just leotards and exercise bikes. As Charles Darwin pointed out fitness in evolutionary terms is not just about physical strength, but the power to adapt. The dinosaurs died out, the mouse survived. The conclusion is clear – innovative research and adaptive technology are a crucial not just to the survival of a university, but also to society as a whole. This message is important in Austria. A recent survey has shown, Austria has the lowest level of public support for research and the greatest number of technophobes of any EU country.
Consequently the main goal of the Researchers Night has to be bringing science to an audience as large as possible who usually don’t have direct access to research areas and giving them the opportunity to interact with different fields of research during the night. Therefore it is also important to focus at teens and youth adults to encourage them to consider a study in/ carrier in the field of research and innovation.
The Researchers Night will be hosted at the campus of St. Poelten University of Applied Sciences. The visitors will experience the full power of live interactive and all media production fitting for such an occasion according to the main theme of the event, “FIT for Research”. A performance fit for the stage, fit for the history books and therefore fit for the future.'
