'The ATLAB Centre is a multi-profile research unit, integral part of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, specializing in the development and application of isotope geochemistry as a major tool for innovative investigations that link modern geology, terrestrial environment and technology. Despite quite substantial funds allocated in the last years to the ATLAB Centre, the organizational and scientific level comparable to that of leading research institutions of the ERA has not been attained yet, first of all due to scarcity of funds, lack of adequate staff trainings and insufficient collaboration with external partners of scientific and industrial sector. The key idea of the proposed ATLAB project is to enhance significantly the research potential of the ATLAB Centre by upgrading the laboratories, hiring new specialists, and strengthening the know-how exchange for the development of advanced and innovative research on terrestrial geosystems. The main objectives of this ATLAB project are: (i) enhancement of the human capacity, (ii) improvement of the existing technical capabilities, (iii) development of strong multilateral collaboration with external partners of private and public sector, (iv) strengthening the partnership with European scientists, and (v) better integration with the ERA. The priority research fields of the ATLAB Centre as well as its overall development strategy are clearly defined in the project and particularly aimed at enlarging our knowledge of the surrounding environment, serving society and contributing to technological innovations. The ATLAB project will help to secure the development policy of the ATLAB Centre, directed on the collaboration with external partners for lasting mutual benefits, on the knowledge transfer and competitive future in cutting-edge scientific activities. The project will help to achieve sustainable development of the ATLAB Centre research quality, competitiveness and attractiveness.'
