'Olsztyn is located in Warmia and Mazury, a land of unique landscape and nature values, which should be particularly involved in building ecological awareness and environmental protection. The region, called The Land of One Thousand Lakes, is a part of European nature heritage. That is why the main aims of this year Researchers’ Night are: dissemination of science, researcher’s career and bringing researchers closer to people (through informational, educational and artistic activities) but also eco-education (through science, art and entertainment). Due to various interactive forms of communication, around 30,000 inhabitants of Olsztyn, the region and Poland will benefit from the project. During the Night there will be a series of educational experiments, eco- and research-awareness campaigns, astronomical shows and experiments, quizzes, workshops, a field game and lectures with an emphasis on natural science. A European aspect of the events will be present in competitions and in three European corners. Some events (e.g. a concert, open air shows and flight simulators) are supposed to attract the biggest possible audience. Diversified awareness campaign will be monitored and revised on ongoing basis in order to reach as many recipients as possible, which will be achieved through cooperation with media and partners, quizzes and competitions with prizes, Internet, promotional and advertising activities and social networking websites. This action will be intensified during The 10. Olsztyn Days of Science and Art (September 26-28) and the Regional Olsztyn Autumn Agriculture Fair in September 2012. The highlight of the events will be the Researchers’ Night in 2 main locations in Olsztyn (called SKY and EARTH ZONE). The events will be broadcast online in the project website and in media. These broadcasts will be preserved and accessible online after the end of the GREEN NIGHT. The project is prepared and conducted by the University of Warmia and Mazury and its partners.'
