 Obiettivo del progetto (Objective)

'This project conducts research on the design and implementation of efficient network file access protocols over next generation Ethernet networks at data transfer rates exceeding 10 Gbps (40 Gbps and above). The scientific objective is to develop system support for achieving network file access at the limits of emerging network and storage hardware. The proposed architecture, Code-46, is designed to address sources of inefficiency at various areas of the system software stack, in accordance with technological and cost-efficiency trends. The project plan includes knowledge-transfer activities that will assist the migration of the applicant from the United States, where he has been until recently employed at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY, to the European space. The project will also carry out educational activities that advance the concept of network storage in computer and information science, and broader impact activities that will apply innovative network storage infrastructures to address the computing needs of sensitive sectors, including security, education, and healthcare.'
