'Climate Night Hamburg 2010 consists of attracting all the categories of the public at large and bring them together with climate scientists at one location. After successful Climate Night 2009 with around 35.000 visitors during the night and more than 4 million people reached by the awareness campaign, the next version of Climate Night Hamburg shall mark the continuation of a well-adopted and entertaining concept in the City of Hamburg. The inauguration of world’s most important climate computer in December 2009 and the work of the KlimaCampus foster Hamburg to be the centre of excellence in the field of climate research.
During the night scientists will guide all the activities organised and attendants will constantly be in direct contact with them, having the possibility of exchanging on any topic of their interest, linked or not to the job as researcher. Researchers are to be shown as ordinary people and the profession researcher as fundamental for the well-being of the society. Visitors will be provided with multi-media based information about consequences of Climate Change and are encouraged to think about concrete actions preserving the natural environment. The Climate Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009 has shown that the topic needs more attention and a further discussion on a scientific level. The interest of the population for this phenomenon has increased and needs to be satisfied. Furthermore, researchers in the green technology sector can present their recent developments to combat Climate Change.'
