'The monitoring of the implementation of the Strategic Research Agenda developed by the Advisory Council of Aeronautics Research in Europe to reach the 2020 goals is paramount to evaluate the progress, identify gaps, and inform the Air Transport Community of the state of progress. In this context, technical goals and institutional enablers were identified as key areas to address to be able to reach the Vision 2020 Goals. In order to provide continuity in monitoring activities, the objectives of the OPTI project are therefore to: - provide the Community with most up-to-date information on the state of progress with respect to technical goals and institutional enablers, - increase the level of oversight on each of the technical goals and institutional enablers, in quantitative & qualitative manner by providing access to a Knowledge base collecting relevant information on each topic, - offer the Community, especially in view of the preparation of a new SRA edition, the possibility to call on the expertise of reference groups established for each of the technical goals and institutional enablers. In the context of the OPTI project, two observation platforms will be further developed: one on Technology (TOP) and one on Institutional enablers (IOP). A final report presenting the state of progress will be generated covering data from European and National initiatives. A common Knowledge base will be created recording both information related to TOP and IOP. Links between IOP and TOP will be explored to refine the analysis at the global Air Transport level. The Air Transport Community will benefit from the set up and corresponding assessment of these Platforms to monitor progress, identify gaps and steer recommendations for the next edition of the Air Transport Strategic Research Agenda. This project will also increase the maturity level of the methodologies used for monitoring evolution and progress towards the Vision 2020 and beyond.'
