 Obiettivo del progetto (Objective)

'Using and combining the experiences and tools from quantum field theory, gravity and fluid dynamics, the goal of this proposal is to address the challenging task of mapping the Navier-Stokes turbulence problem to a general relativity problem. For this we will study fluctuations of certain d-dimensional geometries at a cutoff surface beyond the linear order, and study the map to the nonlinear fluid dynamics. We also aim to contribute further to the development of efficient methods for identifying the regular and stable black hole solutions. A preliminary screening already suggests the existence of a new well-behaved black hole solution, namely a supersymmetric helical black ring, which we want to engineer employing powerful solution generating techniques. Progress along these lines will certainly bring new insights to some of the most exciting and long standing problems in fluid dynamics and gravity'

Introduzione (Teaser)

Analysing the extraordinary properties of black holes in a higher-dimensional Universe has provided EU-funded physicists with valuable insights about both classical and quantum gravity.
