'The ‘BREMEN TRAC – COFUND Fellowships for TRansnational Academic Careers’ programme will enable incoming researchers to conduct an independent research project in a highly competitive and vibrant research landscape. With no thematic restrictions, research topics and hosting institutes at the University of Bremen can be freely chosen. BREMEN TRAC explicitly targets excellent researchers residing outside Germany and offers two-year fellowships with a standard salary and an additional research allowance to early stage postdocs. In addition, international TRAC fellows coming to Bremen will avail themselves of a broad range of support measures testifying to Bremens reputation as a talent incubator. BREMEN TRAC can capitalize on experiences with our own long-established and highly competitive postdoctoral programme: Selection committees and judgement criteria based on merit are already in place and administrative procedures will be easily adapted. External peer review already is a crucial element in the selection of the fellows. The existing programme has considerably been extended in scope two years ago. However, it has always been geared towards national applicants. BREMEN TRAC will offer nearly as much additional positions, but explictly to international researchers. This will contribute to fostering transnational mobility of highly promising researchers in the ERA at an early career stage. TRAC Fellows will greatly benefit from being integrated in a dense interdisciplinary research network with the University of Bremen at its center, offering stimulating research to connect to. Furthermore the university campus offers them ample opportunities for engaging in research cooperations with non-university institutes of excellence, e.g. including institutes of the Max Planck Society (MPG) or the Fraunhofer Society (FhG). The university’s close cooperation with the region’s private sector provides the chance to engage in R&D activities'
