'The main objective of the project „Researchers’ Night in Poland” is to bring the researchers closer to the large public by showing their significant role they play in society, particularly within the citizens’ daily life. The implementation of the project will contribute towards showing to the large public the attractiveness of the scientific profession and their relevance in creating knowledge-driven society. This will be achieved by organising a set of events taking place during the night on 28 Sept. 2007. As a result of the project, the researchers will be perceived as “ordinary people” to which the public can identify itself, wiling to share their passions for research with every citizen in Europe according to the saying: “Researchers are among us”. In particular it is expected that the implementation of the project will convince young people that scientific careers can be fascinating and stimulate their embarkation on scientific orientations. The project will also have an influence on developing favourable conditions for scientific environment, also increasing Europe’s attractiveness as a place for conducting scientific career. Achieving the projects objectives will be possible thanks to organising such relaxing activities as: hands-on experiments conducted by researchers, scientific demonstrations realised by researchers with public participation, guided visits of labs, real scientific experiments handled by the public, workshops, quizzes, etc. The project’s duration is 6 months. It will be divided into three main phases. During the first phase an awareness campaign will be organised aiming at informing about the Researchers’ Night as large a target as possible. The second phase concerns activities taking place during the night itself. The third phase will concentrate on impact assessment activities allowing a reliable assessment of the actions’ impact regarding the public image of the researchers and their recognition.'
