The aim of this project is to develop new molecule based magnetic materials (SMM and SCM) using “chiral magnetic bricks”. The overall purpose of the proposal is to expand the researches toward new compounds with polynuclear and nano-dimensional character as well as with peculiar magneto-chiral properties. The following main research topics will be developed as parts of this project: i) synthesis of new bicompartmental chiral Schiff and Mannich-based ligands; ii) template synthesis of “chiral-magnetic bricks” with SMM behaviour; iii) assembly of “chirale magnetic bricks” by using the free radicals to yield polynuclear heterometallic and mixed valence compounds; iv) understanding the impact of chirality in magnetic properties of building block units and their multidementional networks.
