Obiettivo del progetto (Objective)
COMIFIN-ICA is a proposal for a collaboration research project among ongoing EU (CoMiFin project, contract ID 225407) and US R&D projects focused on the protection of financialcritical infrastructures.nThe financial bodies as well as businesses and customers worldwide are increasingly relying on financial infrastructures for their financial activities.nAt the same time, recent financial market stabilization actions have highlighted the opportunity and convenience of collaboration among the different actors of the global financial system. In order to address some threats and vulnerabilities that may affect financial infrastructures, the European Commission has funded in 2008 a research project named CoMiFin that aims to develop a comprehensive approach to enable the protection of the financial infrastructure through the collaboration of different financial actors and providers of critical services.n, In the United States, the National Infrastructure Simulation and Analysis Center (NISAC/Sandia) has an on-going project, namely 'Global Finance as a Complex Adaptive System', that aims to develop models of interactions among banks, foreign exchange markets and other financial institutions.nBoth projects represent the leading edges in the research about financial infrastructures modelling, management and protection in European Union and United States.nThe cooperation between those two projects aims at establishing a collaboration in order to reinforce convergent results and leverage on complementary activities.nCoMiFin project will disseminate its knowledge on cooperative financial systems in US, and will benefit of NISAC/Sandia knowledge about critical infrastructure modeling. NISAC/Sandia project will obtain advantages from the cooperation with CoMiFin because they can validate the models formalizing the complex behaviour of financial critical infrastructures and related businesses activities through the cooperation architectures proposed in CoMiFin.
