Transparent 3D will create an easy-to-use, non-contact measurement hardware and software package to dramatically reduce the cost of measuring complex transparent objects by greatly accelerating and streamlining the measurement procedure. The technique used will be based on the principle of non-contact high-incidence structured light. The hardware and software package will employ a combination of artificial intelligence, augmented reality, structured light, data fusion and human operator real-time feedback in order to optimize and simplify the full 3D reconstruction process of complex transparent objects.
The feature of real-time feedback and guidance to human operators in particular would allow a non-expert to acquire a complete measurement of a transparent object in the minimum amount of time and with the minimum amount of raw data, thus making the process practical, cheaper, less demanding in terms of data storage and more accessible to curators and novice users. This unprecedented and markable improvement will make the process fast and cheap enough to enable the 3D documentation of thousands of sensitive transparent 3D cultural heritage objects in situ.
The impact of the platform created and its competitive advantages over existing techniques will be demonstrated in the field with a multi-national cultural heritage case study conducted at three cultural heritage institutions in Greece, Italy and France.
This proposal was also submitted in last year's Standard EF MSCA funding round (Proposal No. 841298) with the same acronym 'Transparent3D' and received the EU Commission's Seal of Excellence on 19/03/2019. Since then reviewer comments have been addressed and an extra case-study partner has been added to the list of supporting institutions (The Androidus Project Tank).
Are you the coordinator (or a participant) of this project? Plaese send me more information about the "TRANSPARENT3D" project.
For instance: the website url (it has not provided by EU-opendata yet), the logo, a more detailed description of the project (in plain text as a rtf file or a word file), some pictures (as picture files, not embedded into any word file), twitter account, linkedin page, etc.
Send me an email (fabio@fabiodisconzi.com) and I put them in your project's page as son as possible.
Thanks. And then put a link of this page into your project's website.
