'Objectives
The objective of the Talentia Postdoc Fellowship is to stimulate and support excellent experienced researchers to further develop their careers without mobility restrictions and with complete freedom of choice of their research field, while remaining connected, at all times, to the European Research Area.
The results of their research should lead to significant improvements in the areas of innovation, technology transfer and entrepreneurship; and desirably, in the productivity and sustainable development of Europe through the modernisation of its SMEs and traditional manufacturing industries, an issue of particular relevance in Andalusia, Spain, where Talentia is based.
Implementation
A new scholarship program launched by Talentia will contribute to the achievement of these goals. Talentia is a public body in charge of human capital development and international mobility created and supported by the Regional Government of Andalusia, in Spain. It was created in 2006 and runs under the supervision of the Regional Ministry of Innovation, Science and Enterprise.
Talentia currently manages a fellowship program for Masters and Phd degrees. Within this framework, Talentia now aims to launch a new program addressed to Postdoctoral candidates, outstanding researchers who presumably will not feel sufficiently stimulated by basic student scholarships.
We are aiming at 16 excellent candidates, in two calls, to fit within outgoing and incoming mobility schemes, and we are willing to offer them a competitive economic incentive for two years to do their research and eventually integrate, if they wish to do so, in the Andalusian Knowledge System.
Relevance
This program becomes relevant as a stimulus for attracting and retaining the best talent and as a contribution to the strengthening of the human potential in research and technology in Europe, and specifically in Andalusia.'
A fellowship for postdoctoral candidates attracts and retains best talent and allows for the strengthening of human capital in research and technology.
Researchers often wish to continue to develop their careers but can be faced with mobility restrictions and limited choices in terms of the particular field. Funded by the EU, TALENTIA POSTDOC is a fellowship project working to alleviate these concerns.
Staying connected to the European Research Area (ERA) is possible for the postdoc fellows with TALENTIA POSTDOC, which began on 1 May 2011. The scope of the project, based in Andalusia, Spain, is that the research should be geared towards major improvements in areas such as innovation, technology transfer and entrepreneurship.
All work is to support the productivity and sustainable development of Europe towards the transformation of small businesses and traditional manufacturing industries.
Several unforeseen events have occurred since the start of the project that challenge its expected rate of development. However, the project has received an extension until May 2016 and will launch a call with 16 fellowships.
Not only will the candidates have economic incentive during the two years, they will also have the opportunity to integrate in the Andalusian Knowledge System.
