 Project objective

Strabismus (crossed eyes) and ambylopathy (lazy eye) are among the most common eye problems in children, affecting up to 5% of the population. Untreated, they may lead to reduced vision in one/both eyes or even complete loss of sight. Despite the treatment methods offered currently by medicine (surgery, eye patch, stationary vision therapy), the need to of cheap and enjoyable treatment for home use that would significantly shorten therapy time and have sufficient effectiveness has not been fulfilled. At RemmedVR, in collaboration with doctors with outstanding achievements in pediatric ophthalmology from Poland and the EU we took the challenge to create a unique world’s first system designed for remote home use, reducing therapy time from six months to 90 days on average, with minimized doctor visits while eliminating psychosocial impact on the child. RemmedVR’s tracking sensors are also unique among available vision therapies. Advanced motion tracking system makes the perception of virtual reality (VR) environment more natural and comfortable to train visual perception with games designed to stimulate the cerebral cortex for neuropathic stimulation. Considering costs of treatment and shorter therapy duration, RemmedVR is available for at least half the price of standard vision therapy and 4 times cheaper than our competitors. It also allows doctors to attend more patients and increase income. The primary objective of the Phase 2 project is to adopt virtual reality-based technology to optometry needs. Our value proposition is based on objective measurement which can be done only through tailor-made eye tracking and hand tracking sensors. Having a batch of representative prototypes, we have started proving the effectiveness of our system in pre-clinical trials. We further want to test our system in full clinical trials. Other steps covered in this project are related to scaling business and implementation of commercialization plan.
