'The main goal of Researchers’ Night project is to raise the public recognition of researchers and their profession and to encourage young people in Romania to embark on a technology and scientific careers. In the framework of the European strategy towards knowledge-based economy, the project focuses on the need for increasing the number of researchers in Europe and to foster the interest of the society and the youth, in particular, to the research professions and scientific work. The event will be concentrated on the following activities: Media Campaign – has as a main purpose to reach the public at large and to deliver a short, clear and simple message to the target audience. Drawing Contest – according to EC requirements a drawing contest will be launched with the theme “Please draw a researcher” towards children from fundamental schools (ages 6 – 12), secondary school (ages 12 – 18) and high artistic schools. Documentary presentation – students will create a presentation that will show the facts and figures in the research area in Europe and Romania in order to underline the message that “Europeans should be proud of their scientific traditions”.Organizing and simulation of the night activities - Assuring the functionality of experiments and demonstrations that are going to be made in Bucharest and other cities in the Researchers’Night Workshops in Bucharest and other cities – will be carried out on 28 September in Bucharest, Sibiu, Brasov and Constanta. The target audience will be represented by children, students and adults. The set of activities presented here will be likely to suit each of this groups and will be sufficiently attractive to mobilise a mass audience.Interactive sessions – science café - will provide a unique forum for discussion on topical and thought-provoking issues, scientific as well as more general topics – in a way that will be much more relaxed, informal and accessible than a public lecture would allow.
