 Obiettivo del progetto (Objective)

'The scientific idea is finalized to define a mobility research scheme to reach the IRSES aims: “strengthening research partnerships through short period staff exchanges and networking activities between European research organisations and organisations from countries with which the Community has an S&T agreement or are in the process of negotiating one, and countries covered by the European Neighbourhood policy”. Through a “Health and Food exchange platform” different activities will be developed toward a common objective, i.e. to enhance research capacities in Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia to promote healthy lifestyles in the Mediterranean area by 1. tacking advantage of specific diet habits, 2. exploiting peculiar diet components that may exert positive health effects, and 3. preserving organolectic and biological properties of Mediterranean food even when industrially processed. Finally, the impact of such a coordinated joint exchange programme should be considered as it will establish the basis for the development of an unique “Health and Food collaborative platform” necessary to activate research programmes within the 7th FP. The “Food for Life” exchanging scheme is addressed to realize activities on two Working packages: WP 1: “Health” Allowing nutrigenomics, transcriptomic, proteomin and metabolomic for any specific constituent of the “Mediterranean diet” beginning with micro- and macronutrients that have been already identified to exert favorable effects in term of cardiovascular protection and prevention of obesity and Type 2 diabetes. WP 2: “Food” Create the condition for obtaining detailed tables of food composition for each Country participating in the project to facilitate the acquisition of new knowledge enabling food companies to design and produce healthy food containing the principles of the “Mediterranean diet”.'
