 Obiettivo del progetto (Objective)

'Climate Night Hamburg 2011 on September 23, 2011 consists of attracting all the categories of the public at large and bring them together with climate scientists at one location. After successful Climate Nights in 2009 and 2011 with around 30.000 visitors during each night and more than four million people reached by the awareness campaign each year, Climate Night 2011 is a further development of the two recent nights organised by the coordinator marking the continuation of a well-adopted and entertaining concept in the City of Hamburg. During the night on September 23, 2011 scientists will guide all the activities organised and attendants will constantly be in direct contact with them, having the possibility of exchanging on any topic of their interest, linked or not to the job as researcher. Researchers are to be shown as ordinary people and the profession researcher as fundamental for the well-being of the society. Visitors will be provided with multi-media based information about the life of researchers and also about consequences of Climate Change. Climate Nights 2009 and 2010 have shown that the topic needs more attention because the interest of the population for this phenomenon has increased and needs to be satisfied. Furthermore, researchers can show their recent efforts made, especially in the sector of green technology to combat Climate Change. In 2011, Climate Night Hamburg 2011 will actually be the opening event of a week long accumulation of climate experiences, discussions, demonstrations and an exhibition of research institutions and scientists. Hamburg has been awarded by the EU to be European Green Capital in 2011. Climate Night Hamburg 2011 and the subsequent week will be one of the highlights of Hamburg presenting itself as European Green Capital. Hamburg’s commitment in correspondence to Climate Change, the economic impact and especially the work and life of researchers are to be presented to the audience on an emotional basis during the night.'
